Cancer is ugly. Reports claim that each year thousands of men all over the world get Prostate Cancer. Unfortunately, this is the most common type of cancer in men.
Prostate Cancer is located in a man’s prostate gland. This gland (in the shape of a small walnut) produces seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. This type of cancer can grow slowly and stay confined to the gland or spread quickly and become aggressive. Major symptoms may not show up in the early stages of Prostate Cancer but will appear in the more advanced stages due to the swelling of the prostate gland. There is cause for concern when you experience the following symptoms: trouble urinating, frequent need to urinate, decreased force in stream of urine, difficulty starting or stopping the stream of urine, pain or burning during urination or ejaculation, a weak or interrupted flow of urine, blood in urine or semen, swelling in legs, discomfort in pelvic area, and bone pain. These are the symptoms resulting from the blockage of the cancer growth in the prostate and surrounding area. Advanced symptoms include pain or stiffness in the pelvis, lower back, upper thighs, ribs, and bones, loss of weight/appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and lower extremity swelling. Seek medical attention if you suffer with any of these major symptoms. A health care provider can help you with information regarding the benefits and risks of cancer screening. The Doctor will examine your prostate gland and see if it is inflamed or enlarged. If you have cancer, you have the choice of treatment including surgery or radiation therapy.
Researches are not sure what causes this type of cancer but studies are still continuing today. When Prostate Cancer is detected early, it betters your chances for successful treatment and a longer, healthier life.
